I have worked for McDonald's on and off for the last 24 years. I started at McDonald's when I was 16 as a crew member in Colorado. For the first 6 months, I worked grills so needless to say I was pretty good at it. After that I worked my way up to management. When I left my store in Colorado I was a 2nd assistant manager. I moved to Iowa in 2000 as a single parent and was working at a manufacturing company in Rock Rapids, Iowa. The company I worked for was shut down and I was given the opportunity to go back to school. I went to a community collage in Sioux Falls, SD and received my bachelor's degree in criminal justice. In 2003 I was almost done with school and still did not know what I was going to do for a job when I ran across a "now hiring" ad for the new McDonald's that was opening in Sioux Center, IA. I applied and was hired as a shift manager and helped open the store in June of 2003. I have worked for the company ever since and have held the titles of shift manager, assistant manager, store manager and supervisor.
Over the years I have helped open 4 new stores and helped in the transition of acquiring new stores. I oversee schedules, ordering, money procedures, customer relations, hiring and training, development and employee relations.
When I was 6 my grandma took me to McDonald's for my birthday and I told her I wanted to work at McDonald's when I got older. Look at me now! I have always loved working for McDonald's. I love the people and I love how it is like having an extra family. All 3 of my kids have also said they wanted to work at McDonald's when they got old enough. My oldest worked for me for 3 years and worked his way up to management and my middle child is getting ready to start in July. We enjoy family time, movies, games and family dinners.
